Rosy

Basic Info
Name: Rosy
Nickname(s): Rose, McDog
Age: 8
Brought Home: April 2004
DoB: 02/22/04

Appearance
Rosy is a buff F1 cockapoo, meaning her parents were a cocker spaniel and poodle rather than a cockapoo and cockapoo, cocker spaniel and cockapoo, etc. She has a liver nose and a bit of white on her chest and a lighter buff on her chin. Her eyes are a dark brown. She has curly hair on her body, inherited from her mother (the poodle) and silky hair from her father. She inherited her color from her father. She's a standard cockapoo, weighing in at about 20 pounds.

Temperament
Rosy is a sweetheart, but very stubborn. But also smart, which helps. She isn't necessarily fond of very small children, but she gets along just fine with them. Rosy really doesn't like cats and loves to chase them, probably because when we moved our street was full of feral cats. She's gotten better now and though she isn't fond of them, she really only whines and barks at them instead of going on a full out rampage.

She takes the hamsters very well, not barking, whining, or trying to nip at them. She does pay attention to them closely sometimes, but she's never been a problem with them

Rosy is a quick-learner and sweetie!

Background
Rosy was born in Nebraska on 2/22/04 in a puppy mill. I got her in April 2004. I immediately fell in love with her! When she was 1, my family moved out of the Midwest, and Rosy, of course, came with us. It was a while since we were moving toward the coast, but Rosy was relatively calm despite being a juvenile.

Not much really happened until 2010, when I started teaching her additional tricks. I was never going to show her in competitions for many reasons: 1. She was too old to start agility! 2. She had inherited back problems. 3. She was just a family dog, and I wanted nothing more. She would never start competitions, but we trained her well and she can many more tricks now, some that most dogs can't. "Peekaboo" is what we are currently working on.

Goals:

Not many, except for her to start going down the stairs. Her back problems means she can't jump up on couches, but she's afraid to go down. Only for these stairs, for some reason. She has no trouble going up and down the main staircase.  And to learn more tricks! We'll probably keep training her well into her teens!
