20 Days to Go

Yep, only twenty days until my first agility dog walks into my house. I've been waiting for her since late January, and now, it's finally May. I can't wait to welcome the sweet little pup into my home and cuddle her. Rosy is generally friendly, but she loves to be the center of attention. Hopefully she'll find playfulness in a ball of energy.
Shorty is still a little angel, like when we met her, according to the breeder, and I hope she'll stay that way. Feast your eyes on her newborn puppy picture!

Back when her name was Sadie. And Tootsie. And Lily. And Taffy. And Pepper. And in those day, we didn't know which pup was ours. And we don't now! In fact, the only identifiable one is the particolor. Oh well! We have pictures of the pup now!

In Early Days

Some old pictures of Rosy. She's a pretty girl!

Taken sometime in 2010. Rosy loves snow, if you haven't noticed. Her favorite thing to do in the winter is jump in it!

Speaking of Rosy, we've almost accomplished an easy trick with her: peekaboo. It's very basic and exactly what it sounds like. A dog goes through your legs and when you say "Peekaboo!" they look up at you. Rosy's small, so we have bend our knees slightly, but it's perfectly fine!

About the Author

Well, for starters, I love dogs. I'm still a student, but my plan is to make either a career out of them or just animals in general. I favor smart dogs, because I need to interact with my dogs. That's where training comes in. I use positive reinforcement, and give treats as a reward. Rosy was my first dog, but I remember wanting one as a very little girl. I've recently been interested in agility (well, for a couple of years), but Rosy is best at tiny little tricks to entertain visitors. Shorty will probably do the agility, and will be my first agility dog.
Besides dogs, I also like writing. It's really my passion, though lots of people consider me dog-obsessed. I'm a total nerd about it too. And I'm a grammar freak.
I also like to stand up for what I think is right, or what genus a hamster is in. Hamsters, by the way, are another pet of mine. Dogs and Campbell's dwarf hamsters, which actually mix just fine. I've raised two litters of hamsters, seven all together.
Anyway (enough about hamsters!), I also love swimming, though I don't encourage my dogs to do it. It's a bit of a family sport on my father's side: My father did it, my grandfather did it, and my great grandfather did it. I also do softball.
My sister likes photography, which I'm not particularly good at (or good at all), so all the amazing photos are most likely done by her. She's spectacular.
I've never had an agility dog before, but I did think about it often. Cockapoos have perfect intelligence and stamina for small dog agility. They're also great pets, which is why my family owns two!

Rosy

Rosy is our first dog. She's an F1 cockapoo and about 8 years old. She's a real smarty, but very stubborn! Besides that, she's a complete couch potato, but loves long walks and toys. Especially tennis balls. She's a good watchdog, no doubt. She'll never be an agility dog, but she's very fun to train and entertaining to watch! She gets along just fine with other animals and even strangers (besides excessive barking), with the exception of cats. But that's okay, because one of the family is allergic to cats.
