Shorty profile
Name: Shortcake
Nickname(s): Shorty
Taken Home: May 25th, 2012

Appearance
Well, as you can see, she is black with white on her chin and chest. She's an F1 like Rosy, meaning her parents are a poodle and cocker spaniel. Looks like she took her mother's coat! Her mother is a cocker spaniel with over 30 champions in her pedigree (Not what you'd expect to have a cockapoo!). She also took her mother's color, as her father was a parti-color poodle. Her estimated adult weight is about 25 pounds, and she's supposed to be even bigger than Rosy (Rosy being a standard!).

Goals

Shorty with her brothers shortly after birth.
I have big goals for Shorty. If she gets big enough (15+ pounds), I will attempt at agility. If not, she'll become an obedience master and learn tricks like Rosy. I probably still won't enter her in competitions, unless she exceeds my expectations (Okay, I may. It's a 50/50 chance). She'll always be a pet and family member.

                                               Discovery and Decision

Shorty with her brothers.
My family and I knew we wanted another dog, and knew exactly what two breeds we wanted. At first, we all wanted different breeds. We narrowed it down to two dogs: Affenpinschers, the furry, clever, miny "terriers", and cockapoos, which we already had experience with. Cockapoos won out not only for experience, but because the nearest Affenpinscher breeder was states away! The nearest Cockapoo breeder, considered reputable, was only a few towns away. We were originally going to go with this breeder, but we later found another that had a dam carrying pups. This breeder had put her vet testimonial on her website, as well as the customer testimonials (though the other breeder did as well), and they seemed to match up. We knew we wanted a girl. The puppies were supposed to be born on a family member's birthday too. The litter was a week late, but when they were born, there was only one girl. Since we had already put a deposit down, the breeder emailed us, and we told her we wanted the girl.
We knew our pup was black, but in the original picture of them, it was hard to tell which was ours because only one pup was parti-color; four out of five were black colored like Shorty.
Our breeder checked in with us often, and sent us the adorable pictures of Shorty!
Temperament
Shorty is quiet and sweet. Like most puppies, she's either super tired or super hyper. She learns very easily, and loves food. More than Rosy (somehow).   She's isn't as spunky as Rosy, or as stubborn, but she's still full of love!
Shorty is becoming a lot more like Rosy! She's "sassy", but she's still a sweetie pie!
