Countdown to Shorty: 8 Days

Can you believe it? Eight more days!
This picture is one and a half years old. Taken a few years away from the previous pictures, but on Christmas day. Another test picture. This girl isn't alive anymore, but she was a sweet little hamster named Muffin who bared five pups in her first and only litter. And she outlived four of them!
Yep, a hamster picture this time. But still, an absolutely adorable little hamster.
And a quick thing, Rosy is finally done with target training. I'll post a video soon (I was going to fast, and took the fun out of it).

Goodbye, Coffee Bean

"It was a time when only the dead smiled, happy in their peace."

Coffee Bean
07/02/11-05/09/12

It's unusual for me to post something that's not dog-related, or book-related. Hamsters may become a regular topic here (Though it will never outshine dogs). Unexpectedly, Coffee Bean, one of the "Beans Brothers" died. I'm not sure of the cause, and it happened just before my class was let out. Poor baby. He was one of two of the hamsters I've raised since birth, along with his brother, Vanilla Bean. The small fraction of his family that lives with us outlived him (including his brother, mother, and aunt). I remember him when he was a pink squirmy little ball of hamster, not looking normal at all. And I watched through the stages as he developed hair and became a dark color. I haven't had a hamster die since 2011, and this death was especially unnerving. Because we didn't know he was sick. He didn't have an injury because he lives alone and doesn't climb. He showed normal behavior and no sign of sickness whatsoever.
He didn't want his picture taken that day. The only one where he stayed still for a moment. He was such a silly hamster.
